Rafiki Farm is a community-owned social enterprise. We started in 2010 in response to a community need, with the purpose to increase access to fresh, healthy, sustainable food and provide a shared space for people to cultivate skills, get exercise and make friends. This will also give the members opportunity to invest and make income from the project by working in a group
Rafiki farm aims to bring white maize to local markets and support sustainable and resilient project that will give our communities good food and accessibility to farm and countryside experience. We have launched a 3- acre white maize farming project. This will produce green maize for sale and prospects of drying some of the maize for milling and subsequent sale as maize flour. The produce will be distributed locally and in other parts of the UK through partner’s networks, community groups and other marketing outlets and platforms that the partners will agree on and implement.
We believe that by bringing together motivated and visionary individuals who understand the need for healthy lifestyles and the need for sustainable communities and quality food, we will be able to contribute to the production of good food locally while improving the economic wellbeing of the partners who invest in this project.
Plant Magic is a self-contained allotment-style area of Home Farm, devoted to discovering and promoting the physical and mental benefits of gardening. Suitable for all ages and abilities, Plant Magic provides a safe haven to have a go at growing fruit, vegetables and flowers.
It also provides schools and colleges with opportunities to understand the origins of the food we eat. Plant Magic can provide tailor-made therapeutic or educational sessions for adults and children alike, to learn about the joys of the great British countryside.
If you run a school club, a scouting group, a care home or even just a monthly coffee-morning for your neighbours, why not book a taster session and escape from the busy modern life for just a while? Plant Magic is happy to discuss your interests and requirements and will take every step to accommodate your needs.
